Web of Science

Web of science is a collection of multidisciplinary databases and so useful for most researchers. this guide will show you how to use it to find the information you are looking for.

Using your results

Web of Science gives you the option to export your search results. Before you can do any of these, you need to click on the box to the left of the result that you would like to use. Alternatively, click on the left hand box at the top of the results and next to Add to Marked List to choose them all.

To email your results, click on Export at the top of your results and choose Email from the drop down box. You can then choose what information you want to be included in the email and who it should be sent to.

Add to Marked List

Use the Marked List option to temporarily store records from your search results or full record pages. This functionality is particularly useful when if you are doing a number of search strategies as it allows you to save selected records before deciding which ones to export, read or analyse. You can add up to 50,000 records to your Marked List. If you have a Web of Science account, you can save different Marked Lists to refer back to later. If you do not have an account, or are not logged in, the results will go to a default unfiled list. You will not be able to access this list after your session.

To add results to a Marked List, choose the records and then click Add to Marked List at the top of your results. Once something has been added to a list it will have a purple star next to it. To see the list, click on the star.
