Revalidation for NHS users

Guide to help NHS users with resources and training aimed at aiding them through the process of revalidation.

CPD Activities

There are a number of CPD activities for which the library service can provide you with help, either through our scheduled workshops or our bespoke group sessions. Many of the teaching sessions we offer can be used to meet the criteria of different CPD activities. When you complete your workshop or teaching session, you’ll receive a certificate that outlines the learning outcomes and the professional standards that you will have met by attending the session. This certificate can be used as evidence for your revalidation

Many of our training sessions can be used to fulfil each individual CPD activity

There are two ways that you can sign up to our scheduled sessions:

  • Via KnowledgeShare
    • Go to KnowledgeShare and login with your NHS OpenAthens account
    • Go to the ‘Skills’ tab and select ‘Forthcoming Skills Sessions’
    • Find and click on the session(s) you are interested in
    • Click ‘Book Place’ to reserve your spot
  • Via the Library website
    • Go to the Skills Workshops page on the Library website
    • Find the session(s) you are interested in and open up the relevant section
    • Click on the date you wish to book
    • You will be taken to the KnowledgeShare website – login with your NHS OpenAthens account
    • Click ‘Book Place’ to reserve your spot

If you have something specific that you would like to ask us about, or you’d like to go into more detail about something you’ve come across in a group session, you can book a 1-2-1 session with an NHS Support Librarian. This can be useful if you are undertaking a course and have a specific piece of work you need to undertake, or there is something you have been asked to do as part of your practice.

One-to-one and group training for NHS users

If you’d like to have a one-to-one with one of our NHS Support Librarians, you can book an appointment. You can book a time to have either an in-person session, or have one virtually using Microsoft Teams. You can do this either by contacting one of them directly to arrange an appointment, or by using our online booking system to find a time when one of them is available.

Additionally, you can go further with many of our sessions by also undertaking parallel e-learning on e-Learning for Healthcare, the NHS’s e-learning platform. This contains a number of standalone modules and longer programmes that you can do at once, or dip in and out of as required.

There are a number of e-learning programmes and modules we recommend that expand on the teaching sessions and workshops we provide - go to our E-Learning for NHS users webpage to find out more.

You can browse the full selection of e-learning programmes on e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) by going to the e-LfH website and selecting the ‘Programmes’ tab. Clicking on a programme will give you information about the programme, including when it was created and when it was most recently updated.

To access the e-learning programmes, on the e-LfH homepage click ‘Register / Log in’.

On the right hand side of the login page is a box prompting you to sign in using your NHS OpenAthens account – click this button and use your OpenAthens details to login.

Once you have logged in, you can view the full selection of e-learning modules listed alphabetically by clicking ‘View full catalogue’ on the box labelled ‘My elearning’.
