Revalidation for NHS users

Guide to help NHS users with resources and training aimed at aiding them through the process of revalidation.

Continuing professional development (CPD)

All professional bodies have their own CPD requirements that their registrants need to fulfil in order to complete revalidation. However, the principles of CPD share common elements across all bodies:

  • CPD activities should be individual to you and your practice and tailored to your individual learning needs.
  • Your learning should aim to improve how you and your team works, and how they contribute to the working of the organisation.
  • Your CPD activities should be a mix of formal / planned and informal / unplanned learning.

Beyond these elements, you are generally free to decide on your own CPD activities, which can encompass many different types. Examples of the different types of activity that could count as CPD can be found below:

Professional Standards

The library runs teaching sessions on a range of different topic areas, which we have mapped to the professional standards that your organisation has devised. By attending our teaching sessions and workshops, you can accrue CPD hours and meet the professional standards required for revalidation.
