Accessing Full Text Articles for NHS users

Accessing full-text items through Library Search

What is Library Search?

Library Search is the library’s online catalogue. This allows you to see whether what you are looking for is available to you through the library’s own holdings, whether in print or as a full-text online resource. You can use Library Search to check whether the library has access to the article(s) you need electronically.

How do I use Library Search?

Library Search is an open resource, meaning you can access it from anywhere without a login. All you need to do is go to the Library Search webpage and type in the title of the article you are looking for. If the article is available, it will have ‘Online Access’ highlighted in green next to it.

How do I get full-text items from Library Search?

To get a copy of an online article, you need to either be on an Imperial College London PC, or connected to the Imperial College London Wi-Fi (Imperial-WPA). Click on the title of the article, which opens up the full record. Under the section headed ‘View Online’ there will be a link that will take you directly to the article.

What if I'm not on a library PC?

If you cannot get to the library, or connect to Imperial-WPA, you can still get copies of articles that the library holds. On the article record, you will see ‘NHS staff or student request’ highlighted in blue. Click on this and it will take you to a request form. Enter your details and click on “Request journal article”, and we will email the article to you.
