Accessing Full Text Articles for NHS users

Accessing full-text items through Browzine

Browzine is a web-based platform that allows you to browse, search for and keep track of e-journals that are available to you. You can use Browzine to access the full text of e-journals accessible via your NHS organisation - because this comes via your NHS OpenAthens account, it means you can use Browzine to access full text articles from anywhere.

Go to the Browzine website.

The first time you do this, you will be prompted to select your organisation by clicking on the 'Choose My Library' button and typing in the name of your organisation. This will then be set as the default when you subsequently go to Browzine. You can change your organisation by going to 'Settings' and selecting 'Change your library'. You will then be prompted to select the organisation you want to change to.

When you go to the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub and login with your NHS OpenAthens account, you will see options on the left hand side of the page, one of which will be titled "Browse journals" (or similar). Click on this and it will take you into your organisation's Browzine library.

How do I find what I am looking for?

Once you are in Browzine, there are two main ways to find the journal you are looking for:

  • You can browse for the journal by clicking on the appropriate subject, and then going through the alphabetical list of titles
  • You can search for the journal title using the search box

When you have found the journal that you are looking for, you can then go to the relevant issue containing the article you want, and look through it to find the specific article. Once you have found it, clicking on the article title will take you to the specific web page on the journal website containing the article, while clicking the Adobe icon will take you straight to a PDF copy of the article that you can download.
